Top user questions:

What is Core Health Insurance?

Core Health Insurance is a limited benefit medical insurance plan that is available to all Bucks/Mont NARI members living in Pennsylvania. It may be used in combination with other insurance and is designed and priced to help people gain initial access to health care and to save money on the types of medical expenses that we encounter most frequently. Which plan is best for me?

There are four different Core Health Insurance plans to choose from, distinguished only by their price and the maximum amount of coverage provided. All four options will be displayed when you get a quote. The less expensive plans are better for supplemental coverage (if you already have catastrophic coverage) and the more expensive plans are better if used as a primary coverage when major medical insurance is not available or is not affordable.  Read more and get a personalized proposal.

How am I identified as a member of Bucks/Mont NARI?

When you enroll for coverage through this Web page, your application is coded as a member. This entitles you and the Bucks/Mont NARI chapter to specific benefits that are not offered to other members of this health insurance. There is no current marketing agreement, endorsement or coordination of benefits between the Core Health Insurance Plan for members of the Bucks/Mont NARI and the management of the Chapter.

Association membership is presumed and based on you use of this enrollment Web page. You may be asked to verify your membership in the future when requesting additional benefits from us or in the event that the management of the Bucks/Mont chapter of NARI becomes active in the sponsorship of this plan. What is the difference between major medical insurance and Core Health Insurance?

It is important to understand these significant differences between major medical insurance and limited benefit medical insurance:

Major medical insurance typically has a high deductible but covers most medical expenses above that deductible. Treatment must be determined to be medically necessary and the price charged must be determined to be reasonable in order to qualify for coverage. Some people may be excluded from coverage and the premiums are relatively high. Major medical insurance sometimes offers continuity of coverage when switching to a group type coverage.

Core Health Insurance has no deductible, covers 100% of expenses up to the stated limit but does not cover large medical bills above the stated coverage limits. There is no attempt or expectation of covering the entire amount of a medical bill.  There is no determination of medical necessity and the insurer does not evaluate the reasonableness of the charge. Benefits are simply provided according to the pre-set benefits schedule. Everyone is eligible regardless of medical history and the premiums are relatively low. There is no continuity of coverage when changing policies.

Both types of coverage offer access to medical care when you need it and include a network of doctors and hospitals who have agreed to accept lower payment to plan members than the would otherwise charge. Read more and get a personalized proposal.

What doctors and hospitals accept Core Health Insurance?

Core Health Insurance uses the Multiplan Limited Medical Benefit preferred provider network but this does not mean that doctors and hospitals will accept the insurance as full payment for services. Read more and get a personalized proposal.

Are diabetics eligible for Core Health Insurance?

Yes. But keep in mind that if you already have diabetes then this is a pre-existing condition and some types of medical treatments will be subject to a waiting period at the beginning of a new policy. If you use prescription supplies to treat your diabetes then be aware that Core Health Insurance provides only a discount not insurance coverage for prescriptions.
